POLICIES & PROCEDURES

8New clients are recommended to contact us further in advance to ensure their booking for the consultation visit. Service cannot start until the initial free consultation visit has been completed.  No interview / consultations will be accepted over the phone. Interviews with the owner of HOME SAFE Pet Service are generally 30-60 minutes in length.

HOME SAFE Pet Service does not charge an extra fee for holidays. Holidays, peak summer months and spring break times are high in demand, so it is recommended that clients call the office as soon as possible to ensure the dates you need are still available. Scheduling for these busy times are strictly on a first-come-first-serve-basis. HOME SAFE Pet Service does not over-schedule during these times, and limits the amount of visits for the safety of all involved.

HOME SAFE Pet Service has the right to refuse service to any client.

All clients are required to read and sign the Service Contract before starting service with HOME SAFE Pet Service.

Payment is due in full prior to the start of service. HOME SAFE Pet Service only accepts cash, check or money orders at this time. A $25 service charge will apply to all checks that are returned for insufficient funds.

All fees that are paid are non-refundable, however, a non-transferable credit will be issued by HOME SAFE Pet Service and held on account for a period of 12 months from the date of notification/cancellation of the prepaid service.

"Dailies" - Daily visit clients are entitled to 1 free 25-30 minute visit when they pay for their service for one full month in advance. They also are entitled to receive free delivery of pet food and pet supplies to their home. Advance notice and payment for items are required.

Pet owners of cats or other small animals are required to have a minimum of 1 visit every 24 hours.

8Pet owners of dogs are required to have a minimum of 1 visit every 12 hours.

8Owners of 3 or more pets will be charged an additional $2.00 per visit.

8Owners of 6 or more pets will be charged an additional $4.00 per visit.

It is not HOME SAFE Pet Service's policy to do "quick trips" or also know as "drop-ins" to reduce the price/time per visit for clients. Each visit is 25-30 minutes or 55-60 minutes in length.

HOME SAFE Pet Service must be informed if any persons will have access to your home when you are away.

HOME SAFE Pet Service does not share the responsibility of caring for your pets with a neighbor or relative of client during the contracted time of service.

HOME SAFE Pet Service will continue its scheduled services until notification by client or persons authorized by client. Client agrees to contact HOME SAFE Pet Service within 4 hours of their return. If no contact is made, HOME SAFE Pet Service will automatically continue service and charge client for additional visits. Payment is due immediately for these additional visits.

8At the end of service, HOME SAFE Pet Service will not leave the house keys inside client's home, under the mat, etc. HOME SAFE's policy is to return keys in person to homeowner or authorized persons or by certified mail. The return of keys does not require an additional fee and is at the convenience of both HOME SAFE Pet Service and the client. HOME SAFE Pet Service will obtain house keys at the time of the initial consultation. Clients wishing to have our service use an access code or garage door opener are also required to give us a key due to the possibility of power outages or equipment malfunctions. HOME SAFE Pet Service prefers to retain a key to your house for future or emergency visits. All keys that are retained by HOME SAFE Pet Service are in a secure area. House keys are identified by numerical order to protect both the client and HOME SAFE Pet Service. As a reminder clients who use an access code to enter their home should reprogram it once we have completed our services.

HOME SAFE Pet Service requires that all pets have proper identification either through I.D. Tags or Micro-chipping.

All clients must show proof of current rabies vaccination for their pets at the initial consultation visit. HOME SAFE Pet Service strongly suggests that each pet be up-to-date on all vaccinations. Should the pet sitter be bitten, or obtain a disease/ailment from your pets which has not been properly vaccinated, the client is responsible to pay for all costs and damages incurred by the pet sitter.

8In the case of a veterinary emergency, HOME SAFE Pet Service will contact the client, the pet's veterinarian, or the Animal Emergency Clinic of McHenry County, Inc. at 1095 Pingree Road, Crystal Lake, Illinois, 815-479-9119 as soon as possible. All clients of HOME SAFE Pet Service are required to sign and date the Veterinarian Release Form before the start of service.

In the case of a non-veterinary emergency, HOME SAFE Pet Service will contact the client, client's emergency contact and if necessary the local police and/or fire department.

Natural circumstances beyond our control or an unplanned emergency might make it impossible to visit your pets as planned. In the event this happens, HOME SAFE Pet Service will contact the client as soon as possible. Extreme weather conditions will result in either the cancellation of a scheduled visit or a delay.

HOME SAFE Pet Service appreciates clients who remember to clear their driveway, walk and steps for gaining access to your home.

HOME SAFE Pet Service reminds you to have plenty of food and supplies for your pets. If necessary, HOME SAFE Pet Service will restock your cabinet for an additional $10 fee and cost of those items.

Client is responsible for securing the yard and home for the safety of their pets before the start of service. HOME SAFE Pet Service is not responsible nor will be held liable for the safety, death, disappearance, or fines incurred by any pet that is allowed unsupervised access to the outdoors.

All dog owners are required to have a properly fitted and working collar/harness and leash for their dogs.  I.D. tags should be secured to these as well. Dogs are required to be on a leash when they are not confined to their secured, fenced-in yard. Please have the necessary equipment at the time of the consultation visit with us.

In the event your pets soils the carpet, floor, wall or furniture, HOME SAFE Pet Service will attempt to clean the areas to the best of our abilities. Clients will be contacted immediately should the pets damage be severe. HOME SAFE Pet Service will not be responsible for any damage caused by your pets should there be a stain odor despite our best cleaning efforts.

HOME SAFE Pet Service will provide plant care per client's instructions to the best of their ability. All indoor plants should be in one area to prevent missing plants that need to be watered. Plants also need to be in containers or areas that will prevent water damage. HOME SAFE Pet Service will not be held responsible for wilted, dead or unhealthy plants.

All information given to HOME SAFE Pet Service is strictly confidential.

Either party upon written notice may terminate the service contract at any time.
